Clank! The silent hallway of Meridian hotel was swiftly filled with the clanking sound of metal and concrete produced by cleats attached to bikers' shoes. It was already five in the morning, the group zeroed in their cyclometers, geared up and said a short prayer before their ride to chocolate hills.
We took off at five thirty. Taking advantage of dawn, we passed through seaside roads enjoying cool wind breezes passing through our jerseys. At Baclayon church, the group
stopped for a short prayer. Afterwards, we rode on towards Loay which indicated the end of the flat road, yet meant the start of a long uphill climb.
A downhill came next as we rode closer to Loboc, where the soothing beauty of the
emerald green river energized us up again as we pushed further. After hours of pedaling, we came across the man-made forest which effectively sheltered us from the heat of the sun, as if encouraging us to move on.
Finally, after three and a half hours of mountain biking, we reached chocolate hills. This was the klub's first ride outside of Mindanao ! We have oficially ATTACKed Visayas!
